AT THE CLUB
Radio KL85 as a radio lab
Because the answer to the question, can the duopoly of today's radio stations be broken, is not unequivocal, Radio KL85 wants to profile itself as a radio lab! Why did the sea stations have an audience of millions? Obviously because they brought what the state radios did not bring: music that was good in the market, news, information, but also "connection", these stations brought together listeners from Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France.
Due to their powerful AM transmitters
after all, the listening range was hundreds of km far, especially in the evening hours. That's what the KL85 radio lab wants to stand for as well: good music, news, information and connecting listeners ("from a point in West Flanders to the rest of the World!").
KL85 is currently the only radio station
... in Flanders with a DUAL FORMAT, during the day we focus on that generation that still experienced the sea stations, the 60+ers. During the evening hours we target a more thematic and international audience (mainly 50+) and offer KL85 listeners several exclusive evenings such as Jazz and Blues, Rock.
With "At the Club"
...we have an outlier, offering young DJs a platform that takes their listeners to the best festival pastures. But despite the diligent work, the listening audience, though steadily growing, remains far too marginal to be significant.
Getting listeners to KL85
So, with all our good intentions, we still need to know how to reach our target audiences (60+ and 50+). Powerful AM stations are no longer of our time, radio streams are; it's a World Wide Web for a reason!
